FlightScope Mevo Gen 2: Everything you need to know about this affordable launch monitor

Table of Contents
FlightScope has just released its latest portable launch monitor, the FlightScope Mevo Gen 2, and I couldn't be more excited about it. In this post, I'll tell you everything you need to know including what it is, what features it includes, how much it costs, and how you can get your hands on it.

For a number of years, I have owned and used the Flight Scope Mevo launch monitor. It’s a neat little device that makes range-practice sessions more interesting, and helps keep the club gapping in check. Beyond that, it really doesn’t get much use. Having recently built my own back-garden practise area, I’ve been looking at other launch monitors and simulators to allow me to get the most out of my sessions, and I think the Mevo Gen 2 might just be exactly what I’ve been looking for.

What is the FlightScope Mevo Gen 2

In a nutshell, the FlightScope Mevo Gen 2 is an all-in-one portable golf launch monitor and simulator, designed to be used both inside and out.

Price-wise, at £1099, it’s sandwiched perfectly between the Mevo and the Mevo +, and should give golfers like me who want more features than the Mevo but don’t need all of those found on the Mevo +, a very affordable option. Depending on when you’re reading this, clicking the link below and entering my code ‘AGB‘ at checkout might save you an extra 10% on FlightScope products.

Key features

So, we know what the Flight Scope Mevo Gen 2 is and how much it costs, but what about what it offers in terms of features?

Patented Fusion Tracking Technology

At the heart of the Mevo Gen 2 lies FlightScope’s Patented Fusion Tracking Technology. This isn’t just one type of sensor;  it’s a clever combination of 3D Doppler Radar and synchronised image processing, similar to what’s found on the Mevo +. According to FlightScope, this technology is what allows the Mevo Gen 2 to deliver “unmatched data accuracy,” giving users the confidence that every number it provides is accurate.

18 Data Parameters

In terms of data parameters, the Mevo Gen 2 provides users with a whopping 18, which is 10 more than are available on the Mevo and only a couple fewer than the Mevo +.

Some of the parameters include:

  • Carry distance
  • Roll distance
  • Total distance
  • Ball speed
  • Club speed
  • Smash factor
  • Vertical launch angle
  • Horizontal launch angle
  • Spin rate
  • Spin axis
  • Apex height
  • Lateral landing
  • Angle of attack
  • Shot type

This comprehensive set of data parameters is invaluable for understanding your swing, optimising your equipment, and truly dissecting your performance.

E6 Connect Simulation Bundle

One of the standout features for me is the simulator element, which should make practising in the garden so much more fun.

The Mevo Gen 2 comes with free lifetime ownership of an exclusive E6 Connect simulation bundle that Includes 8 world-renowned golf courses, compatible with both iOS and PC:

  • Kiawah Ocean Course: SC, USA
  • Torrey Pines South Course: CA, USA
  • Sea Island Seaside Course: GA, USA
  • Latrobe Country Club: PA, USA
  • Pelican Hill Golf Club: CA, USA
  • Chateau Whistler Golf Club: BC, Canada
  • Valderrama Golf Club: Cádiz, Spain
  • Kapalua Golf Club – Plantation Course: HI, USA

No Hidden Costs: Free Software and No Subscriptions!

Whilst many golf companies are moving towards a subscription-based service, it’s great to see that FlightScope have no hidden fees or subscriptions with the Mevo Gen 2. Both the IOS and Android mobile apps will be free. That said, access to additional simulator courses through E6 or other 3RD party simulator courses will likely incure a subscription cost with those developers.

FlightScope Shot Tracer: Professional-Grade Visuals

The Mevo Gen 2 delivers with its “As seen on TV” FlightScope Tracer feature. This allows you to capture and view accurate 3D trajectories with data overlays and a shot tracer directly onto your swing video – perfect for those who wish to share swing videos on social media.

Action Video Clips with Data Overlay: Analyse Your Swing in Detail

Beyond the shot tracer, the FS Golf software automatically records, clips, and saves every swing video and overlays the data. This gives you a complete visual and statistical picture for every shot. Plus, you have the ability to draw lines and circles on the video and even record a voiceover with comments, making it an excellent tool for self-coaching or sharing with a coach.

Portable and Durable

The Mevo Gen 2 is designed for convenience. It’s lightweight and portable, making it easy to transport between the range, your garden, or your indoor setup. With a 6-hour battery life and USB-C charging, you’ll have plenty of juice for extended practice sessions.

Extensive 3rd Party Integrations

FlightScope understands that golfers often use a variety of tools. The Mevo Gen 2 boasts impressive compatibility with a range of third-party integrations, including:

  • E6 Connect (beyond the included bundle)
  • Creative Golf 3D
  • The Golf Club
  • Awesome Golf
  • GSPRO
  • TheStack System
  • SuperSpeed
  • RCT Balls
  • Apple Watch

This extensive list means the Mevo Gen 2 can slot seamlessly into your existing golf tech ecosystem or open up new avenues for training and play.
